Nawras services and offers attracted great interest at COMEX 2011

Muscat, 7 May 2011 – As a result of a pleasingly different presence at COMEX 2011, Nawras received keen interest in its new services and once again, the annual event created a great opportunity for Nawras to get closer to customers. Visitors to the Nawras stands were particularly interested to learn about the value-packed Bronze Home Broadband monthly plan for only 9 Omani Rials.

Nawras Chief Technical Officer, Peter Rubeck, was invited to take part in the conference that ran alongside the main exhibition.  As one of the panel members discussing ‘Mobility as a driving force towards business transformation’ he spoke about the extensive investment that the company has made in the Sultanate of Oman by rolling out 2G, 3G+ and WiMAX and fibre networks to  fulfils its vision to enrich the lives of people in Oman through better communication services.

Several Nawras firsts were launched at COMEX including a new WIMAX modem with built-in WiFi, a bill analyser service to help telecom administrators monitor costs and BlackBerry® Smartphones that can be picked up today and paid for over a period of 12 or 24 months.

For the first time, Nawras was present as a full service communications provider offering mobile services as well as broadband internet, following the launch of fixed services in 2010.  Visitors were able to test the plug and play simplicity of Nawras broadband internet and learnt that the service is immediately available with no waiting list.  After choosing their preferred data plan, purchasing a modem and plugging it in at home, customers can be surfing the internet within a couple of minutes using Oman’s only WiMAX network.

The Nawras stands were a hive of activity as throughout the five-day IT, telecom and technology event Nawras was welcoming dignatories and local media personalities as well as thousands of visitors.  Oman TV’s local personality Abdullah Bahrani could be seen reviewing the latest gadgets and technology during his live broadcast with Nawras from COMEX.

Hi FM’s Darren Short was also live on air, reporting from the show with Nawras Head of Branding, Nourhan Beyrouti.  Together they explored the many interesting communication solutions and services at the Nawras stands and toured COMEX, sharing their observations with the radio station’s audience.

On the first day, Nawras unveiled its mobile store which was set up in the car park for visitors to experience.  This self-contained fully-fledged unit will be travelling the length and breadth of the country to take products and services to those who would not ordinarily enjoy such easy access to them.

COMEX visitors also learnt how Nawras customers benefit from great value offers like the popular 6th anniversary offer enabling Nawras customers to call each other on Fridays for only 10 Baizas per minute.

At its stands, Nawras people explained how there are great savings to be enjoyed on international calls too.  After talking for six minutes to any international destination during off peak hours, from 8:00pm until 6:00pm from Saturday to Thursday and all day on Fridays, customers are getting the following six minutes for free.  To benefit from this offer, a blank SMS should be sent to 80020.

Nawras, a Qtel Group company, is committed to providing a rewarding experience for customers.
