Nawras shortlisted for Mobile Operator of the Year by SAMENA

Muscat, 18 October 2010 – Nawras is delighted to be on the shortlist for the prestigious award of Mobile Operator of the Year, from the multi-content telecommunications consortium SAMENA. This is the latest industry endorsement of this customer-friendly company’s successful pursuit of its core values to be caring, excellent and pleasingly different in serving its more than two million customers.

In order to shortlist candidates for the SAMENA awards, the research team considered various criteria including operators’ achievements, key performance measures and major contributions made in their respective markets. SAMENA initially tracked key developments and performance for all major operators within the region, and as a result operators were short-listed by the awards committee members. Achievements for the year 2009 were compiled and objective data provided by market research together with subjective data, was taken into consideration along with knowledge of the market.

Reacting to the great news that Nawras is on the shortlist for Mobile Operator of the Year, Ross Cormack, said, “We are delighted and honoured that Nawras has been recognised by this prestigious body and thrilled to have reached the shortlist of just three mobile companies competing for this title in the highly competitive regions of South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

“To have reached this point is a fantastic achievement for the whole Nawras family as this recognises the relentless commitment and dedication from our people to provide a pleasingly different communications experience for our valued customers,” he added.

Nawras is in good company on the shortlist for this prestigious award, having been named alongside Mobily and du – two of the most successful telecom operators in the region. SAMENA’s winners in all categories will be announced during the ‘Convergence to Casablanca’ conference taking place at the end of the month.

In its short five-year history, Nawras, a Qtel Group company, has been honoured to receive a number of awards including Leader in Telecommunications, Customer Service Provider of the Year – Middle East and Africa, Middle East Call Centre of the Year and Middle East Mobile Operator of the Year as well as receiving the judges’ award ‘Above and Beyond the Call of Duty at the World BSS Awards.

With its more than 80 members, SAMENA is promoting telecom growth, innovation and knowledge-sharing between regional telecom entities in South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. SAMENA serves members in these three high-growth regions in countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabic, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain Iraq and Egypt. Organisations from countries in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America also form part of the SAMENA membership.
