Nevion recognised in IBC Innovation Award for Sky News Arabia’s Project Skynet
Oslo, Norway, 17 September 2014 – Nevion, a leader in transporting media from the camera to the home, has been recognised in the IBC Innovation Award for Content Management that was won by Sky News Arabia for its Project SkyNet platform. The platform, powered by Nevion’s Flashlink, is a disaster-recovery network that can be accessed and controlled over the internet from any of Sky News Arabia’s 20 bureaux across the Middle East and allows them to broadcast and transmit live programming and breaking news from anywhere.
Nevion supplied its much trusted Flashlink optical transport, signal processing and distribution system to Project SkyNet to control the platform remotely when required. The solution included Nevion’s UDC format converters with complete processing amplifier functions to process the incoming feeds from the bureau, as well as its 3G/HD/SD-SDI change-over that provides programmable and automatic switching for critical applications.
