New AdvancedTCA system delivers data-transfer rate of 40Gbit/s

Electronics packaging specialist Schroff has unveiled a new 6-slot AdvancedTCA system that incorporates a triple replicated mesh backplane with a data-transfer rate of 40Gbit/s.

The system is primarily designed for use in the telecoms sector, where ever higher data rates are required for applications such as video-on-demand, webinars and video conferencing.

Compliant with AdvancedTCA specification PICMG 3.0 Rev. 3.0, the 5U-high system offers space at the front for six 8U-high horizontally mounted AdvancedTCA blades and can also accommodate six rear transition modules. The backplane has two hub slots, four node slots and a bussed IPMI (intelligent platform management interface).

High system availability is ensured by redundancy in the power and cooling systems, with two power entry modules (PEMs) delivering the necessary supply voltage of -48VDC/-60VDC and two hot-swappable fan trays providing a cooling capacity of over 350W per front board, which is well in excess of the 200W required by the AdvancedTCA specification.

Housed in a shielded 19in. subrack made from zinc-plated steel, the system is available from stock in any quantity from a single unit upwards. Schroff will also carry out any necessary modifications for users who require variations from the standard product, and again there are no minimum order quantities for this service.
