Means New Revenue Opps for Handset Makers, Developers and More

New Delhi– April 28, 2011 — mig33, the world’s largest mobile-first community, today announced a new version of the mig33 Android application, promising its 47 million registered users worldwide an improved mobile social entertainment experience – and handset makers and more another route to revenue streams of all types.

The updated app features a more visual user interface, easier chatting among multiple friends and conversations, and one-click sending of gifts to fellow mig33 members.

Moreover, mig33 for Android adds yet another platform upon which handset makers, game developers, VAS content providers, merchants or others can reach that fast-growing audience and generate significant revenue streams with little to no up-front investment.

“mig33 is becoming known throughout the mobile industry for its diverse, vibrant and generous revenue opportunities, and mig33 for Android paves the road for enormous future growth,” said Steven Goh, mig33 co-founder and CEO.  “We continue to work with handset makers and developer partners worldwide, but particularly throughout Asia, to deliver the best mobile entertainment experience in emerging markets.”

On the development, Mohit Gundecha, Head- India Operations said, “India has a vibrant Android market, with most mobile players introducing Android handsets. This application opens up the opportunity to mobile developers in India to utilize the platform to reach out to millions of mig33 users in India and worldwide, and ride on the trend.”

The update comes as Android continues to skyrocket in popularity worldwide.  In January, technology analyst firm Canalys published its Q4 2010 smartphone market research, which revealed that Google’s Android has become the leading smartphone platform.1

New Revenue Streams for Partners

mig33’s virtual economy, based on credits purchased online anywhere or in a number of retail establishments throughout Indonesia, saw more than 40 million virtual gifts purchased in 2010, with its average monthly sales doubling over the course of the year.

Handset makers – with which mig33 is already in talks – can pre-install the mig33 Android or Java app and generate revenue based on consumption of mig33 credits.

Game developers and VAS content provides can generate similar revenue streams.  Last month, mig33 announced a developer partnership with GREE, Japan’s top social networking service provider, that means social app developers throughout Asia and beyond can now easily modify their apps and, in turn, reach the hundreds of millions in emerging mobile regions via mig33.
