GTS opens a new data center in Slovakia

Bratislava, November 28, 2011 – GTS Central Europe (GTS), a leading infrastructure-based telecommunications operator and data center service provider, recently opened a new data center in Bratislava, Slovakia. The data center, comprising an area of over 3000 square metres, is built in accordance with TIER 3 standards. The expansion of the GTS data center portfolio is a direct response to the growing demand for housing and hosting services. GTS now operates a total of 14 data centers in CEE region.

“Opening the new data center in Bratislava is the natural result of our customers’ demand for hosting and housing services. In addition to low energy consumption, high-quality telecommunication infrastructure and physical security, I would like to highlight our unique ability to provide an entire area for technological equipment with superior performance requiring extremely high levels of energy and cooling in the entire area.”,

said Stanislav Molčan, Managing Director for GTS in Slovakia.

One of the first customers that will be using the services of this new data center already this year is Postova Banka – a leading Slovak bank with more than 800 thousand customers.

“We have been using services of GTS Slovakia for several years. We consider the high quality and security of the services together with the fulfilment of our individual requirements as important pillars of cooperation in the area of hosting services. At present, we are taking the final steps necessary to start using the services of this new data center in the very near future.”,  said Maria Grusova from Postova banka.

The Slovak data center is built in accordance with the most stringent security protocols and the latest technological standards. The net customer area of two data halls is 1,100 square metres, translating to a capacity of over 400 racks, with the option of further expansion. The priorities at the data center are to increase operational efficiency, lower cooling costs, minimise energy losses and provide a new level of additional services.

The data center was designed according to TIER 3 standards, where we guarantee up to 99,999% availability for all functionalities like power, cooling and telecommunications infrastructure. Further, all distribution systems are concurrently maintainable without causing any customer service interruptions. Cooling is adaptive, capable of adjusting to momentary needs, which contributes to high energy efficiency. The entire solution was designed with the primary aim of minimising negative impacts on the environment. The portfolio of services provided in the data center includes physical server placement, rental of space going from individual servers to a rack up to a fenced area or cage in the data center. Additional services include remote hands, rental of office space and secure storage rooms.

GTS now operates 14 facilities with more than 13,000 square meters of customer space and available power capacity of more than 28 MW across five European countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia).

Each GTS data center places the highest emphasis on its industry-leading physical and data security systems which include CCTV system, secure chip cards for entry, fire security doors and alarm, 24/7 facility monitoring and lockable cabinets/racks.
