New online channel for watchmaker Binda Group is based on Intershop solution

  • Binda Group selects Intershop’s transaction based license model to manage international multi-brand platform
  • Rollout has begun in Italy with the Breil watch brand

Jena, Germany, December 10, 2013 – The watchmaking company Binda Group is venturing into multi-channel commerce by setting up an additional online sales channel, powered by Intershop, the leading independent provider of omni-channel commerce solutions.

After detailed evaluation of several vendors offering a Transaction Based Revenue models, Binda Group decided for the overall most attractive option coming from Intershop. While it keeps Binda’s financial risks low, with the solution found Binda Group will manage multiple brands and local sites centrally. It keeps configuration and integration with existing systems easy. This means less administrative hassle and more coherent and faster global rollouts. Responsive design was also a crucial specification to make the shop seamlessly accessible both from desktop and mobile devices.

The Italian company has a history of almost 100 years and 1,450 employees worldwide and owns the brands Breil, Hip Hop, Freestyle, Vetta e Chronotech, which are distributed in 20,000 shops around the world, along with seven other licensed brands. Binda Group has started the rollout of its own shopping platform on the web with the brand Breil in Italy just in time for the Valentine’s Day peak. Other brands and countries will follow during 2014.

Previously, Binda sold its products through authorized dealers in Italy and worldwide via its own branches, production units and distributors. The new channel achieves the strategic advantage of getting in closer contact to the customers.
