ACCESS Integrates its NetFront Browser NX with Broadcom Set-Top Box Chipsets and Demos Lightning Fast HTML5 Rendering Speeds at TV Connect

· ACCESS hosts European premiere of its latest NetFront Browser NX™ 3.0

at TV Connect, Stand 127

· Newly updated solution enables operators to launch multiscreen UI and retain control of the consumer experience

Oberhausen, Germany, 19 March 2013 − ACCESS CO., LTD, today announced that its lightning quick TV-centric HTML5 browser, NetFront Browser NX™ 3.0, is making its European debut at TV Connect (Stand 127, Olympia Exhibition Centre, London, 19 – 21 March, 2013). ACCESS will also demonstrate important new features of the browser, such as enhanced YouTube Leanback HTML5 functionality, expanded set-top box and TV chip support and seamless sharing of content and UIs from the PVR with other connected devices such as smartphones, tablets and set-top boxes.

ACCESS will also be showing expanded set-top box (STB) and TV chip support, following the integration of NetFront Browser NX with STB and TV chipsets from Intel and Broadcom. NetFront Browser NX has been optimized to maximize hardware acceleration, this combined with its support for advanced HTML5 functionality enables the ACCESS browser to demonstrate lightning quick video rendering speeds when ported to STB chipsets.

NetFront Browser NX is a WebKit based browser designed to support HTML5, the language of TV’s future* which will be demonstrated running advanced TV UIs and supporting remote control features for YouTube Leanback.

The on stand demonstrations will include the sharing of PVR functionality and control with mobile devices in the home, such as smartphones and tablets. This is enabled through NetFront Browser NX UI being shared with a wide range of devices that utilize the Remote User Interface capabilities of NetFront Living Connect™, ACCESS’ award winning DLNA Technology Component™ solution. This important use case enables operators to deploy multiscreen while retaining control over branding and the consumer experience.

“Visitors to TV Connect will be able to see demos that show how our NetFront Browser is a key enabler for operators looking to deploy HTML5 to make the most of the industry’s migration to multiscreen,” said Kiyoyasu Oishi, Chairman and CEO, ACCESS Europe.

“Visitors to ACCESS’ stand will witness first-hand the blistering speed that enables advanced UIs to be delivered by NetFront Browser alongside advanced YouTube Leanback and PVR experience sharing. This makes for an entertaining and exciting remote user interface demo that shares the PVR experience throughout the home, demonstrating why HTML5 running on NetFront Browser NX is the best route for operators looking to retain control of the consumer experience while providing users with the multiscreen media sharing they increasingly expect,” concluded Oishi.

The solution is a WebKit-based, platform-independent HTML5 browser with lightning fast rendering speed that now supports CSS 3D Transforms, CSS Filter and CSS writing-mode, along with Canvas, and delivers the most up-to-date Web experience based on HTML5. By supporting key multiscreen building blocks such as Web Socket alongside HTML5 RUI, NetFront Browser NX 3.0 provides service and user interface (UI) discovery, inter-application communication and barrier-free multiscreen UIs, enabling TV operators and device manufacturers to deliver intuitive UIs and services seamlessly to multiple devices in the connected home environment.
