INTEROP TECHNOLOGIES RCS SOLUTION FULLY COMPLIES

WITH GSMA JOYN BLACKBIRD RELEASE

Cost-effective solution helps operators compete

with national providers

FORT MYERS, Fla.—Sept. 16, 2013Interop Technologies, a provider of core wireless solutions for advanced messaging, over-the-air handset management, and connectivity gateways, today announced that its cloud Rich Communication Services (RCS) solution is fully compliant with the joyn Blackbird release from the GSM Association. This release includes a number of priority RCS version 5.1 features that enable operators to compete with popular over-the-top (OTT) services.

The Interop RCS solution provides operators with the ability to compete directly with national providers as they introduce RCS-based services. Media reports indicate that AT&T and Sprint are preparing RCS launches. The Interop cloud-based technology can be implemented quickly—without the up-front investment required for an in-network solution.

The Interop Technologies website features a new video highlighting joyn Blackbird features. The Blackbird release enables users to conduct IP-based video sessions and voice calls and to share images, video, contacts, and location information during one-to-one and group chats. In addition, users can share images and videos during voice calls. A converged inbox for SMS, MMS, and joyn messages enables users to access all conversations from a single messaging application.

The Blackbird release also includes “store and forward” capabilities for chat messages and file transfers. As a result, joyn queues messages and files sent to offline contacts and forwards them as soon as the contacts have signed in. In addition, Blackbird includes multi-device support, enabling users to access joyn from several devices sharing the same user’s identity, such as a mobile phone, tablet, and laptop.

“It is critical for operators to introduce RCS to remain competitive with national players,” said Steve Zitnik, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Interop Technologies. “With our cloud-based technology, operators can launch this service quickly and cost effectively without making expensive changes to their current network.”

Interop Technologies representatives will be at Interop booth #229 at the Competitive Carriers Association tradeshow Sept. 15-18 in Las Vegas. To schedule a meeting, click here.
