Nemertes Research Report Shows Empirical Cost Benefits of UC Management
Tuesday, November 26, 2013 – Richardson, TX – VOSS Solutions today issued a new report from Nemertes Research that analyzes UC production environments which highlights the relative costs of implementing and administering a UC platform, with and without third party management tools.
The paper, entitled “Managing UC for Success” and written by Irwin Lazar, VP and Service Director at Nemertes Research, discusses that fact that the cost of implementing, migrating and managing UC is increasing. To overcome these challenges, Nemertes advises that it is important to address UC management requirements early in the UC planning cycle. The report concludes that organizations using third party UC management tools have a higher UC success and a lower total cost of ownership.
Nemertes analyzed feedback from 180 enterprise organizations, finding that the TCO per end point (capital plus implementation plus operational costs) in the first year of a UC deployment has risen sharply; from $1,413 in 2010 to $2,536 in 2013; primarily due to the integration of new UC services and applications.
The report discusses the important role that UC management tools play across the entire lifecycle of UC: Through planning, implementation, administration, operations, and change management. The report presents data to prove that with the introduction of UC management tools, impressive cost savings can be made:
· IT staff costs reduce from $1,544 to $486 per end point – a 66% saving
· Total operational costs reduce from $2,747 to $1050 per end point – a 47% saving
