Vulnerability management is the process of identifying, evaluating, treating, and reporting on security vulnerabilities in systems and the software that runs on them, including apps that you expose to your customers. ‘Next-gen’ vulnerability management in addition also assesses the people that are using these systems. Employees can often be the weakest link in the chain, so next-gen vulnerability assessments not only identify “technological weaknesses” but also the “employee weaknesses” that allow cybercriminals to compromise corporate systems and the information they hold.
