NOA’s Partnership with Quantum Offers Wide Range of

Integrated Storage Configurations for mediARC

Vienna, AUSTRIA— 30 September  2013 — NOA Audio Solutions has partnered with Quantum Corp. to integrate a wide range of Quantum’s storage products within NOA’s mediARC archiving solutions.

To store large amounts of lossless compressed video data with multiple copies across several sites, NOA now integrates Quantum systems into a comprehensive tiered storage management infrastructure that can meet the demands of any broadcast archiving operation. Depending on the size of the project, storage for mediARC installations can be configured with StorNext metadata appliances, StorNext AEL Archives tape libraries and StorNext Q-series storage systems from Quantum.

“The very high density of the storage is an advantage for NOA customers, as is the variety of storage solutions available from Quantum,” said Christophe Kummer, CEO of NOA Audio Solutions. “The versatility provided means that we can easily accommodate the most advanced and elaborate archiving infrastructures within a streamlined mediARC workflow.”

Based on NOA’s proven, easy-to-use, open technologies, the mediARC system is a flexible framework for media archive management that makes the entire process easier and more efficient for broadcasters and archives of all sizes. mediARC’s modular structure is scalable to fit any required level of performance, security, and distributed usage requirements. mediARC provides structured and flexible content management that will last for decades, with a range of powerful tools that can efficiently digest petabytes of information.

“We are pleased to partner with NOA to provide highly scalable and flexible storage offerings to customers with content archives that have high-performance workflow requirements”, says Ewan Johnston, Area Vice President EMEA Big Data at Quantum. “As a provider of innovative audio broadcast solutions, NOA’s mediaARC is a great fit with our proven StorNext product family. This partnership demonstrates the wide adoption of Quantum’s solutions in the Media and Entertainment industry and offers further value to our mutual customers.”

mediARC can handle the complex structures needed for proper description and effective use of an archive’s content, linking media data to metadata and storage on a granular level, and supporting the application of FRBR (Functional Requirements of Bibliographic Records).  A powerful and exceptionally fast search engine, capable of combining structured and full-text search capabilities, allows easy access to information through a graphical user interface. Developed in cooperation with dedicated broadcasters, who have profound insights into the archive library world, the mediARC system is designed to meet requirements in three fundamental areas – metadata (description of the media content), media storage and conversion, and workflows (controlling, creating, and processing information).
