Nokia Siemens Networks migrates 100th customer to IP transport

Industry milestone confirms the company’s leadership position in mobile backhaul technology

Nokia Siemens Networks has migrated its 100th customer from legacy mobile backhaul technology to IP/Ethernet, becoming the first vendor in the industry to reach this milestone.

“Today network operators face high capacity demands due to the increased uptake of smart devices and always-on applications,” said Marc Rouanne, head of Network Systems, Nokia Siemens Networks. “We help our customers with a direct path to LTE – migrating them to cost-efficient, highly reliable and scalable IP/Ethernet backhaul networks. The 100th customer deploying our technology shows that transformation to IP is developing at a rapid pace and that operators realize the value in our offering.”

Nokia Siemens Networks provides a consultative approach helping operators build tailored IP transport networks. The company’s holistic mobile backhaul offering starts from an efficient transport module in the base station and goes through the entire transport network. Supervision occurs via the end-to-end NetAct management system, allowing point and click Ethernet service provisioning and optimized QoS (Quality of Service) handling.

In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks offers end-to-end services to ensure that the mobile backhaul network is optimized from access to core, provides a single IP/Ethernet network for all services and enables unified network management. Nokia Siemens Networks also has capability and experience to manage day-to-day operations of the transport network.

The IP transport offering provides optimized support for all radio technologies and allows for a significantly reduced footprint – making it the ideal choice for mobile backhaul.
