Fourth country to host cutting-edge facility for managing networks
At Futurecom, Nokia Siemens Networks today announced the setting up of its fifth Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This is the first GNOC in the Americas and it aims to serve a growing base of Latin American operators seeking to outsource network operations so that they can focus on core activities of their business. The GNOC will be established with an initial 15 million euro investment and host up to 300 expert technicians, responsible for managing up to 20 million subscribers. The center will be operational from January 2011.
“Since we opened our first GNOC in 2007, we have achieved significant scale and experience in successfully managing our customers’ complete networks remotely for better efficiency,” said Ashish Chowdhary, head of Global Services at Nokia Siemens Networks. “Latin America and Brazil in particular are growth markets for us. We have established strong partnerships with customers in the continent, becoming the number one managed services provider, managing networks for more than 70 million subscribers in the region. Setting up a GNOC in Brazil is testimony to our commitment to serve the growing demand among operators in the region for outsourced network operations.”
Operators search for ways to reduce operational expenditure, optimize investments and offer subscribers a whole range of new, high quality services. So, the market for services in Latin America is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.1% with some sources saying it could grow at an even more accelerated pace.

Nokia Siemens Networks global network operation centers are designed to remotely manage operators’ networks located in any part of the world. This center in Brazil will share the tools, operational model and architecture with four other centers that are already serving more than 190 million subscribers globally: two in India, one in Portugal and one currently being established in Russia. The center will not only serve Latin American customers, but also customers around the world.
