NTT Communications Introduces Arcstar Universal One with SDN for Advanced Cloud-based VPN Service Three new functions added for enhanced corporate cloud computing environments

TOKYO, Japan – May 14, 2015 – Effective May, NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within NTT Group (NYSE: NTT), announced today that its Arcstar Universal One virtual private network (VPN) service, available in nearly 200 countries, by the end of May will introduce three new functions based on Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies to enable corporate customers to centrally control network devices and modify networks for coordination with the cloud.

New Features

NTT Com will make several new product features available to customers to facilitate their architecture plans for network and cloud services. These new features are some of the first of their kind to be made available to for enterprises, and leveraging SDN to shorten the provisioning time required to deploy new services, as well as lower operational costs to do so. The overall result is greater control by the enterprise for managing their services.

Multi-cloud

Enterprise customers will use this new function to connect to services on private clouds other than NTT Com’s Enterprise Cloud, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.

Asset Light

The Arcstar Universal One Advanced Option menu will offer an application acceleration function that does not require additional hardware at the enterprise’s locations. End-to-end communications via the cloud, including from customer endpoints and applications on mobile devices, can be rapidly deployed by the enterprise via a portal for accelerated performance and on a reduced cost basis.

Multi-client

Arcstar Universal One Virtual, a virtual network service first launched in Japan, will now be introduced on a global basis. Global customers will use this function for highly secure cloud connection via various devices, such as PCs, smartphones and tablets, and various networks, such as Arcstar Universal One, the Internet and the networks of other service providers. This function will also be a world’s first.
