Nujira champions future stars of electronics industry
Supporting electronics engineers of the future through UKESF Scholarship Scheme
CAMBRIDGE, U.K. – March 27, 2014 – Nujira Ltd, the world’s leader in Envelope Tracking (ET) technology, has announced its sponsorship of a student through the UK Electronics Skill Foundation (UKESF) programme, demonstrating the company’s commitment to nurturing talent to support the future of the industry.
UKESF is aiming to increase the number of talented engineering graduates entering the electronics industry following a significant decline, 26% since 2002, in UK applicants for electronics degrees, which is threatening the future of the £78-billion UK electronics industry.
Through a network of partnerships with universities and companies in the electronics sector, UKESF connects employers with high-calibre students for scholarships offering bursaries and practical experience in the industry through mentoring and work placements. Scholarships, such as the one awarded by Nujira, are available to students studying electronic engineering at any of the 11 UKESF partner universities and run throughout the students’ degrees, offering long-term support.
Tim Haynes, CEO, Nujira commented: “There is an urgent need to create and maintain a large talent pool for the UK electronics sector’s future growth, and to address the threat of diminishing skills capability in the industry. UKESF is doing an outstanding job of promoting awareness of the electronics industry, and the wide range of rewarding career opportunities it provides, and we are proud to be supporting the initiative.
“We believe that UK electronics companies are at their best, most innovative and most competitive when they are intelligently applying smart design techniques to create new innovations. In order for this to continue we need to make sure we’re attracting and nurturing the UK’s best engineering talent.”
A fabless semiconductor company headquartered in Cambridge, UK, Nujira is enabling the design of cost-effective multi-mode, multi-band mobile handsets that deliver faster data rates, longer battery life, and better coverage.
Nujira’s mission is to dramatically improve the energy efficiency of transmitters for 3G and 4G handsets by reducing the amount of waste energy dissipated as heat in the RF Power Amplifier circuit. Nujira’s patented Coolteq® Envelope Tracking chips dynamically modulate the power supply to the RF PA in line with the amplitude of the transmitted signal, enabling the creation of highly efficient RF Power Amplifiers for smartphones and other portable wireless devices.
Founded in 2002 and now employing over 60 people, Nujira is funded by leading European venture capital institutions and has amassed the most extensive patent portfolio for Envelope Tracking with over 200 patents filed or granted.
