The largest telecom service provider in Czech Republic, O2 has signed up with Swiss telecom firm, Sicap to deploy its Device Management Centre solution. This will automatically configure O2’s subscribers’ mobile handsets to connect to the operator’s 3G and 4G mobile broadband services.

BAAR, Switzerland, 2nd October 2018: Sicap Schweiz AG, the global mobile device management vendor announced today that the largest telecom service provider in the Czech Republic, O2, will utilize Sicap’s Mobile Device Management Centre (DMC) to offer its subscribers automated and seamless mobile device configuration with a faster problem resolution from its customer care centers.

Czech Republic is one of the most advanced mobile markets in the Central Europe where a population 10 million people have more than 14 million mobile subscriptions, the O2 network serves 5 million of those subscriptions. According to GSMA, high speed mobile broadband penetration, consisting of 3G and 4G/LTE technologies, is currently more than 90% in the country.

Jakub Votava, Director for Network Architecture and Development at O2 Czech, has a ringside view on the rapidly evolving Czech mobile market. “The number of subscribers using a 4G/LTE handset has grown by 50% on the O2 Czech network during the past one year”, according to Votava. “We see high speed 4G/LTE data services, which are crucial to support data hungry applications and video streaming as our main growth area today. Sicap Device Management Centre perfectly supports our growth strategy by automatically connecting data users on our network, without burdening the customer care center with handset configuration problems”, Votava adds. “Sicap DMC has proven a future proof solution enabling us to evolve to next generation services such as Voice over LTE (VoLTE)”, Votava concludes.

Magnus Moller Petersen, the Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Sicap Schweiz AG confirms Votava’s statement and adds: “Czech Republic is one of the European 4G/LTE fast-growth pockets. For Sicap, the co-operation with a progressive operator such as O2 Czech is a strength, as our Device Management business gets prepared to serve the growing numbers of VoLTE roll-outs in Europe”, concludes Moller Petersen.
