Omnitron and Cyan Integrate iConverter NIDs into Ethernet Service Portal

Irvine, CA – July 10, 2012 Omnitron Systems, (www.omnitron-systems.com) a provider of fiber access products for Carrier Ethernet business services and mobile backhaul, today announced that Omnitron and Cyan have completed integration of the iConverter GM4 Network Interface Device (NID) into CyPortal. The iConverter GM4 NID provides comprehensive support for the IEEE 802.1ag and ITU-T Y.1731 standards for industry-leading interoperability and SLA performance monitoring capabilities.

Cyan’s CyPortal is the SLA assurance and customer portal component of the Cyan 360 software-defined operations systems. CyPortal rolls up key SLA performance metrics from industry leading demarcation devices such as the Omnitron iConverter NID, and correlates the performance data with individual customer services. The performance data is provided in a customer-oriented view that presents detailed SLA reporting for key Ethernet service quality parameters such as availability, delay, jitter, throughput and packet loss across multi-vendor networks.

iConverter GM4 NIDs provide tools for optimizing service delivery and managing the customer experience throughout the life cycle of an Ethernet service. Network management combined with Service OAM provides higher perceived service quality and workforce productivity, rapid outage restoration, fewer reported problems and greater customer satisfaction. Support for Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) enables rapid and accurate service deployments, and built-in RFC 2544 and Y.1564 test heads remotely validate the integrity and SLA metrics of the end-to-end service. In the event of a network fault, the iConverter GM4 provides instant notification and comprehensive, standards-based fault management tools to facilitate remote fault isolation and troubleshooting. The iConverter GM4 also supports ITU-T G.8031 and Rapid Spanning Tree service protection features to minimize service down time.
