Doha, Qatar and Jakarta, Indonesia

Indosat, member of Ooredoo, recently celebrated double success in the 2014 Selular Awards, winning Best Prepaid Card for its IM3 Card and Best CSR Program for the Indosat Wireless Innovation Contest (IWIC).

Highlighting Indosat’s focus on youth and innovation, the awards, which are organised by Global Selular Media Group, recognised the leading service Indosat’s IM3 card provides to tens of millions of Indonesia’s younger, aspirational generation.

A second award gave recognition to the company’s outstanding efforts to encourage Indonesia’s youth to exercise their creative, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. Awarded Best CSR Program, IWIC, an annual innovation and mobile application contest has produced more than 2,000 innovative telecommunication technology application works to date.

Alexander Rusli, President Director and CEO of Indosat said, “We are delighted to have received industry recognition in these two areas.  For us these awards are proof that the IM3 prepaid card remains one of the best services available to Indonesia’s young people and that the IWIC program continues to be a leading force in encouraging Indonesia’s young people to become more creative and innovative through the invention and development of mobile applications. These young people will create Indonesia’s tomorrow and for Indosat it is an absolute priority to provide the services and motivation to help them achieve the very best they can.”

Dr Nasser Marafih, Group CEO, Ooredoo commented: “Across our group we are dedicated to providing solutions uniquely tailored to young people and their specific needs. In Indonesia, the country’s young population are incredibly aspirational and we are delighted to have received this validation for the specific initiatives and services we have introduced to support their unique needs.  It is through initiatives such as these that we as a group are delivering our commitment to human growth, putting these words into meaningful action.”

The annual Selular Awards have been awarded to members of Indonesia’s cellular telecommunication industry since 2004 when they were first initiated by the GSM (Global Selular Media) Group. Taking the theme of “Welcoming The Next Phase”, the assessment uses a panel of judges from its editorial team as well as conducting an online survey, which this year involved 1,799 respondents from across the country.
