Open Networking Foundation Announces SDN Solutions Showcase at SDN & OpenFlow World Congress

22 ONF Member Companies Participating as Showcase Founders

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 8, 2014 – The Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN), today announced the first global SDN Solutions Showcase by leading SDN companies organized and sponsored by ONF. The ONF SDN Solutions Showcase will take place at SDN and OpenFlow World Congress in Düsseldorf, Germany from October 14 – 17, 2014. The showcase will be comprised of teams of ONF member companies, providing demonstrations of real-world examples of various SDN technologies, products, and applications.

“Customers want to visualize SDN solutions that overcome networking challenges encountered in their specific environments,” said Dan Pitt, executive director of the Open Networking Foundation. “The ONF SDN Solutions Showcase provides a great opportunity to highlight real-world use cases, based on current and emerging products, that we believe many network operators will relate to.”

The ONF SDN Solutions Showcase is the first global solutions showcase to include leading SDN companies who participate in ONF. The showcase will be divided into themed demonstrations that address a wide range of applications. Flagship companies and organizations that have already committed to participating in the showcase include 6WIND, Broadcom, Brocade, Ceragon Networks, China Mobile, Corsa Technology, Freescale, Guardicore, HP, Huawei, the Indiana Center for Network Translational Research and Education (InCNTRE), Ixia (Net Optics), Konodrac, Luxoft, MRV Communications, NEC, Netronome, Spirent, Tallac Networks, Telefonica, UBIqube Solutions, and ZTE Corporation. The aforementioned companies have earned the designation “Founding Participating Company” by ONF, covering a wide range of silicon, equipment and software vendors along with service providers and operators. Additional member companies will be announced as the event draws nearer.

As Europe’s premier network innovation conference, the SDN and OpenFlow World Congress offers the SDN community the opportunity to learn about recent developments, debate relevant issues, and assess the reality of SDN and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). The Congress gathers over 1,300 SDN, NFV, and OpenFlow industry leaders, vendors, end users, and innovators, and is uniquely co-hosted by the Open Networking Foundation with Deutsche Telekom as Host Operator.

“The SDN and OpenFlow World Congress is an incubator for innovative ideas and an active support system for the business and technology ecosystems, assisting in driving advancements in SDN and NFV,” said Robert Jones, managing director of Layer123. “Including the ONF Solutions Showcase in our event enables Layer123 to continue to deliver demonstrations of real-world SDN implementations for attendees.”

ONF member companies have until June 13, 2014 to commit to participating in the ONF SDN Solutions Showcase. Companies interested in participating should contact Rick Bauer at rick.bauer@opennetworking.org.
