OpenCloud appoints Geoff Unwin as Chairman

Telecoms software provider names veteran technology executive as company Chairman

Cambridge, UK/Wellington, NZ, – September 5th Telecoms software innovator OpenCloud, has appointed Geoff Unwin as Chairman. Unwin assumes the role of Chairman of the Board during a period of rapid expansion for the company; OpenCloud has experienced a CAGR in excess of 100 per cent during the last three years. He will provide strategic guidance to sustain the company’s growth.

Unwin is a long-standing technology executive with a background steeped in IT services. He began his career in the late 1960s when he joined Hoskyns Group PLC, he became an influential figure and reached the post of Managing Director in 1984. Unwin oversaw the group’s flotation in 1986 and acquisition by Cap Gemini in 1988, by this time he held the post of Executive Chairman. He remained integral to the organisation following the acquisition becoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Cap Gemini E&Y, a position he held until 2002. During his tenure he led the successful acquisition of Ernst & Young’s consulting activities and he is currently a non-voting member of the Board.  

Unwin also has considerable experience as a company Chairman holding a number of executive, and non-executive, roles for technology and media companies. He is currently the Chairman of Halma plc, a provider of electronic products and components, Taptu Limited, social and search engine software, and sits on the advisory board of the private equity group Palamon.
