Openet Leads in Policy Market for Second Consecutive Year, According to Infonetics Research

Openet Captures 8.9 Percent of Overall Market, 9.8 Percent Share of Wireless Policy Management

DUBLIN, Ireland – March 23, 2012 – Openet, a leading provider of Service Optimization Software (SOS) to tier one communications service providers (CSPs), has again been named the global revenue leader in Infonetics Research’s Policy Management market share, size and forecast report. This survey ranks policy management vendors by market share and analyzes the overall landscape.

This is the second year in a row that Openet has been named the top company for this report, despite a growing number of competitors entering the market. This is a result of Openet’s innovation and the subsequent unique value of its policy management product, Openet’s pedigree in engineering scalable decision-making systems and Openet’s proven performance in deploying solutions for tier one carriers.

“The worldwide policy market is growing quickly, and the majority of that growth is concentrated in the wireless policy space,” said Shira Levine, directing analyst for next-generation OSS and Policy at Infonetics Research and author of the report. “Mobile operators are no longer simply equating policy management with bandwidth management; they’re increasingly viewing policy as a tool to monetize their next-generation networks by enabling value-added capabilities and new service models.”

In past years, operators focused on using policy to optimize network efficiency and reduce operating expenses. Policy’s role is now expanding to enable revenue generation through new business models, though improved customer experience, and through streamlined deployment of new networks and technologies such as LTE. The policy market grew more than 40 percent to $588.8 million in 2011, as marketing and IT departments joined network operations as buyers.

“The policy market is growing not only in revenue, but in the number of competitors,” said Michael Manzo, CMO of Openet. “Despite a flood of new offerings on the market, Openet has come out on top once again due to our continued dedication to policy innovation and key deployments of our ‘trifecta’ of policy, charging and subscriber data management.”
