Opengear Releases Lighthouse Enterprise Edition to Support Secure Remote IP Access and High Platform Availability

by Anthony Weaver

SLOUGH, BERKSHIRE, 20th June 2019 – Opengear, a leading provider of solutions that deliver secure, resilient network access and automation to critical IT infrastructure, has launched a new Enterprise edition of its centralised out-of-band (OOB) management platform, Lighthouse. To meet evolving enterprise requirements for always-on network connectivity and business continuity, the new version, Lighthouse Enterprise (LHE), comes equipped with remote IP access and new functionality to deliver high availability, at scale, to even the largest organisations.

The new edition includes built-in functionality to allow secure remote IP access for quick network monitoring and remediation, even for devices with no serial console port, thereby helping ensure resiliency whenever critical locations go offline.

LHE’s multi-instance operation supports high availability by allowing concurrent users access to nodes across multiple platform instances. The redundant systems allow enterprise customers maximum uptime, even in the event of a server outage. LHE’s rolling upgrade feature ensures that all platform instances are updated when the administrator updates the primary version.

LHE makes it easy to centrally manage Opengear and third-party OOB console servers and gateways. The Lighthouse platform provides access to all connected network and IT infrastructure such as routers, switches, power distribution units (PDUs), servers, or physical environmental monitoring sensors. In addition, administrators can automate the configuration and deployment of new OOB devices and pre-configure multiple nodes with Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP). Afterwards, these only have to be wired on site. This reduces deployment costs and sources of error. The platform can also be seamlessly integrated into existing IT management software through the RESTful API interface.

David Fiore, Senior Software Product Manager, Opengear, said: “Lighthouse has rapidly established itself as core to the network management strategy of organisations across multiple industry sectors today, delivering centralised, scalable out-of-band management from a single pane of glass. LHE takes this to another level by capably handling even the largest-scale IT infrastructure deployments. We look forward to demonstrating to existing Lighthouse users, new customers and prospects alike exactly what LHE has to offer.”

LHE is available now. Prices start at £140 per node for a 1-year licence that supports up to 49 Opengear OOB nodes. The more Opengear nodes that are integrated into LHE, the cheaper the licence price per node. All licences offer one year of maintenance but can also be ordered with three-year maintenance. This further reduces overall costs.
