PARKWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH UPGRADES TO HD, PREPS FOR EXPANSION WITH FOR-A HVS-300HS DIGITAL VIDEO SWITCHER

CYPRESS, CALIF., October 4, 2010 – Parkway Christian Church in Surprise, Ariz., launched a campus-wide installation of high definition video production in August. As part of its HD upgrade, the church purchased the FOR-A HVS-300HS HD/SD portable video switcher, which will accommodate planned facility expansion. Audio Analysts, based in Colorado Springs, Colo. integrated the HD production department.

The HVS-300HS offers optional I/O cards that allow more inputs and outputs to be added as the facility grows. “It is a much higher level of production,” said Preston Smits, project engineer, Audio Analysts. “I was very impressed with the expandability of the unit. It packs a lot of punch for the price range and for its form factor.”

The new sanctuary features a multi-screen configuration. A large center screen is the backdrop for the stage, and there are two large screens on the sidewalls adjacent to the stage. In addition, a large screen is located on the rear wall of the sanctuary for confidence monitoring for presenters on stage. Along with Christie projectors, the church uses a 360 Systems video server for recording the services and playback, as well as four Vaddio ClearVIEW HD-18 PTZ cameras positioned around the room for the telepresence capture.

“They are using the HVS-300HS to switch among sources and provide content production for all the screens,” said Smits. “I love the aux bus controllers. Being able to daisy chain multiple controllers to the same switcher means that multiple people can switch aux buses at the same time and produce content for other areas of the building. The aux busses are capable of scaling, so not everything has to be at the same resolution.”

Other auditoriums on campus receive a simulcast. “We deliver a telepresence feed to one other auditorium on site at this time,” said Tyler Ingram, A/V coordinator at Parkway Christian Church. “We are experimenting with the possibility of eventually maintaining 12-15 small auditoriums around campus, while keeping an intimate feel within the services.”
