Muscat, Oman

Keeping customers’ lives convenient and most importantly, safe, Ooredoo’s pay+ mobile wallet continues to set the standard for digital payments in the Sultanate. Developed together with National Bank of Oman (NBO), the fast and secure mobile wallet enables a wide range of transactions via a single app on a mobile device, including payments, deposits, and transfers. Frequently updated and enhanced, the easy-to-use service is just one way Ooredoo is ensuring its customers have an awesome digital experience.

Especially handy during the current pandemic, pay+ offers safe and quick financial services in a few clicks. One of its key functions, the international remittance service, allows users to send money instantly to any bank account in India, from the comfort and safety of home. The network is planned to be expanded soon, to include many more destinations to meet customers’ needs.

For those tasks that simply cannot be completed at home, the service also enables contactless payments at over 1,500 locations all over Oman using QR Code scanning, including OmanOil petrol stations, StarCare hospitals and pharmacies, McDonalds, Caribou cafe, Nesto and Spar supermarkets, Oman United Insurance, Al-Obaidani stores, and many more. A full list of merchants accepting pay+ is available on www.payplus.om.

Feras bin Abdullah Al Shaikh, Director of Branding and Communications at Ooredoo said, “Mobile wallets are transforming the global payment industry, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, when they have become a lifeline for people while they need to practice social distancing. pay+ enables our customers to access safe and quick payment services from the safety of their homes. As we face up to a ‘new normal’, we will continue to bring innovative and useful digital services to help the Omani market adapt.”

The culmination of a long-term partnership between Ooredoo and NBO, pay+ is part of a commitment to guide Oman towards becoming a largely cashless society and enhance its technological capabilities. Supported by Ooredoo’s fast, reliable network, which gives increased connectivity and speed, pay+ is enhancing the digital lives of both customers and merchants.
