Petrotechnics applies Operational Risk Expertise to help Shutdown & Turnaround Operators Improve Overall Performance at Key Middle East Event

Aberdeen, 11 November 2013 – Petrotechnics will deliver a keynote presentation and a workshop including practical insights and tools for optimising plans in a turnaround environment and mitigating Operational Risk as part of its ongoing strategic partnership with Fleming Gulf.

At the 3rd Annual Shutdown & Turnaround Event in Doha, Qatar, 19th November 2013, Petrotechnics will help delegates explore easier, more effective ways of managing workload against risk, improve plan attainment, reduce backlog and deal with emergent work.

Petrotechnics Executive Vice President, Iain Mackay will explore the ability to view risk in a more holistic way enabling operators to proactively manage workload against risk, ensuring the workforce maintains the critical path of a turnaround plan in a safe manner. He will also discuss how organisations can improve their ability to respond to the dynamic environment and related risks from the high volume, high intensity workload which are typical characteristics of a turnaround.

During our workshop senior consultants Andy Bartlett and Pete Cowie, will demonstrate how new technology and intuitive tools can provide the key to delivering more informed decision making, through greater insight and visibility around the risk drivers, types, conflicts and cumulative risk.

The workshop will also demonstrate how understanding and managing the interaction between asset integrity risk, barrier management and workload can provide the basis for a healthy reinstatement and handover.

MacKay said “With limited ability to account for work management realities or holistic risk, it can be a challenge to not only manage safety critical work, but to ensure execution is aligned with the schedule and plan. Any delay can have huge consequences and we know it’s important to keep on track whilst remaining completely safe. At this event, we will demonstrate a common environment for Planners/Maintenance and Ops teams to offset traditional silos and enable them to proactively manage workload against risk, substantially improving turnaround efficiencies and performance. By changing approach we can make things easier and drive sustainable improvement across our frontline operations.”

By using an intelligent technology to holistically integrate these disciplines without increasing complexity; organizations can use a common view for better decision making and move strongly towards an optimum operating and production-ready environment, the goal at the end of any successful turnaround.
