Emerson Network Power Delivers Increased Service Support

to Enterprises in Asia

Names Pascal Bodin and Toh Kai Dee as Service and Projects Heads

SINGAPORE, September  6, 2013 – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and a global leader in protecting and optimizing critical infrastructure, announced today two key appointments designed to fortify its service and support structure in Asia. Pascal Bodin has been named director for service and projects for Emerson Network Power, covering Singapore, Philippines, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand. Malaysia and Pakistan, meanwhile, will be placed under the strategic management of Toh Kai Dee, who has been appointed director for service and projects for the two market units.

“Delivery of unparalleled service is a responsibility that Emerson takes very seriously,” says Chris Mandahl, vice president of service and project management for Emerson Network Power in Asia, “Selling equipment is only half of the protection equation. Having the ability to service it — whenever and wherever it is needed — is vital to maintaining the systems availability of our customers. Pascal and Toh’s appointments mean our customers can expect a strengthened commitment to service, understanding that our business is just as much about service as it is about product.”

Having reliable service support in place can be vital to business productivity. As companies increasingly rely on IT operations, the financial and business losses that come with a downtime event also increases. A study by the Ponemon Institute, commissioned by Emerson Network Power, states that an average incidence of data center downtime lasts 90 minutes and will cost a company $505,502–a needless waste of company resources. Such a cost can be easily avoided with preventive maintenance and service support.

“Preventive maintenance is vital to ensuring the continued availability of business-critical equipment,” says Bodin. “While many service organizations can perform basic repair activities and maintain the equipments’ level of competency, it is through proactive maintenance that the life of IT systems can be extended, increasing overall system availability, and boosting business productivity.”

An IT industry veteran, Bodin spent ten months with Chloride Asia before moving to Emerson Network Power when the former was acquired in 2010. He previously served as country manager for Chloride Philippines and Korea. Meanwhile, Toh Kai Dee has twelve years of industry experience with Emerson Network Power and has been instrumental in developing the company’s Service business in South East Asia.

“Emerson Network Power’s comprehensive service program maintains the largest technical support and customer response system in the industry,” said Toh. “In Asia Pacific alone, over 600 customer engineers, in 12 countries are ready to assist 24 hours a day, ensuring uncompromised reliability and continuity of operations.

Bodin graduated with a degree in Marketing and Management from Grenoble Ecole De Management. He is currently based in Singapore. Toh, on the other hand, holds a degree in production engineering and a joint MBA from the University of Bath, UK and Malaysia Institute of Management. He is currently based in Malaysia.
