Qvest Media selects TSL Professional Products’ PAM2 MK2 Multichannel Audio Monitoring for Dubai TV’s Switch up to 3G |
TSL Professional Products Ltd. (TSL PPL) today announced that leading systems integrator, Qvest Media, has taken delivery of 16 PAM2 MK2 multi-channel audio monitoring units for critical operator positions at Dubai TV’s new centralized transmission and ingest room. In a move that will upgrade Dubai TV’s current SD tape-based workflow to a full HD/3G enabled file-based workflow, the DMI-owned station, will utilise TSL PPL’s PAM2 MK2s for comprehensive decoding and monitoring of stereo and Dolby audio formats throughout its HD broadcast chain. The PAM2 MK2s are supplied by Qvest Media as part of an ongoing TX archive project that will migrate all of Dubai TV’s playout servers onto centralized Omneon Spectrum servers with Pebble beach automation, and archived onto a StorageTek LTO 5 library managed by Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive. “The PAM2 MK2 is an excellent fit for Dubai TV as we move them forward with a 3G-enabled workflow – it really takes the complexity out of complex and critical audio tasks – especially with regards to Dolby decoding and loudness-compliance monitoring”, said Mohamed Hamid, Project Sales Manager, Qvest Media. One of the first audio monitoring devices to be fitted with Dolby’s CAT-1100 module, the PAM2 MK2 performs Dolby E decoding and external speaker monitoring, as well as Dolby Digital Plus with surround descriptive audio and stream mixing. “The PAM family is fast becoming the new industry standard in multichannel audio monitoring across the ME region,” said Swarup Mukherjee, the new regional sales manager for TSL Professional Products Ltd. in the Middle East, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. “We’re very proud that major broadcasters like Dubai TV have latched on to the benefits that the PAM2 MK2 offers over competitive solutions in the market”. Dubai TV’s transmission engineers will gain instant feedback and constant analysis with the PAM2 MK2’s on-board bar graphs, loudness histogram and compliance data, which can also be exported via an SDI output and displayed on a video wall. To speed up turnover time between productions, the units will be configured for different productions with instantly recallable user presets. Dubai TV operators can back-up production-specific snapshots on a USB memory stick and recall them on a show-by-show basis, all hile building a user preset archive. The PAM2 MK2’s Ethernet port will provide network connectivity to Web browsers and system management software applications. Qvest Media is expected to finish the project by October 2013.
