Project Gigabit is failing to deliver as millions are still without broadband funding

by Anthony Weaver

Latest analysis by National Broadband [1], reveals that Project Gigabit
is failing to deliver for millions as 50% of households in the country
still lack usable broadband and have not yet received any funding from
the scheme.

With only 18 months remaining until the Government’s target date to
provide gigabit-capable broadband to 85% of properties, the analysis
further indicates that the allocated funds are primarily being directed
towards areas that are easier and cheaper to reach. This approach aims
to meet the target but may leave behind the areas most in need of
improved broadband services.

I have attached the full press release below (please note embargo),
which includes a quote from David Hennell [2], the Director at National
Broadband. [3] If you would like to find out more, I’d be more than
happy to organise a call with you and the National Broadband
spokesperson.

You can access additional assets and imagery here [4].

I would great to get your thoughts on whether this story would be of
interest to you or the wider team

Any questions, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jessica
