Qualcomm Announces Support for Android Oreo (Go edition)

SAN DIEGO — December 5, 2017 — Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), today announced support for Android™ Oreo (Go edition), an optimized experience for smartphones supporting 1 GB or less of memory. Qualcomm Technologies is working with Google™ to enable the next wave of value priced smartphones with a focus on speed and reliability. Android Oreo (Go edition) offers an improved user experience by optimizing the Android operating system and applications to run more efficiently on devices with less storage, and RAM. This allows greater consumer flexibility as mobile users in emerging regions such as India, Southeast Asia and Africa gain access to a wider variety of Android smartphones with a more modern operating system. Mid and low-tier Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ mobile platforms will be ready to be used by device manufacturers shortly after the latest version of Android (in this case Android 8.1 Oreo ) is released to the Android Open Source Project.
