QuickPlay Media continues European expansion with launch of new Frankfurt datacentre

Amsterdam | IBC show (Hall 14, Stand 14.381) – 12th September, 2013 – QuickPlay Media, Inc., the leading provider of cloud-based managed service solutions for the distribution of premium media to IP-connected devices, today announced the launch of its first European datacentre in Frankfurt, Germany. The new datacentre will support the company’s managed service offering and expanding presence in Europe. Through its OpenVideo Platform, QuickPlay provides multiscreen solutions, including Live TV, Video on Demand and Media Transformation for operators, broadcasters and other multichannel video programme distributors (MVPDs) looking to roll out TV Everywhere services.

The launch of the Frankfurt datacentre will address QuickPlay’s customers’ challenges with meeting consumer demand in Europe. The datacentre will support QuickPlay’s video on demand encoding as well as live television delivery to multiscreen devices. Consumer demand for multiscreen services is increasing competitive pressures for TV service providers to develop a TV Everywhere proposition that delivers a seamless user experience to the multiscreen. Juniper recently predicted that Western Europe, along with North America and the Far East & China, will be a key market in driving mobile TV and video service revenues to approach $10 billion by 2017.

“We pioneered this market nearly a decade ago, and now QuickPlay’s Frankfurt datacentre sees us extend our managed services capabilities to customers in Europe, helping them to deal with the critical steps required to build out a successful multiscreen video infrastructure,” said Wayne Purboo, CEO of QuickPlay Media. “As the adoption of multiscreen services continues to skyrocket in Europe, QuickPlay is poised to take advantage of these market dynamics and play a key role in the continued success of our customers in Europe.”

QuickPlay’s end-to-end managed services handle the most resource-intensive parts of offering premium video and live TV to multiple screens on behalf of customers such as: AT&T Mobile TV (formerly U-verse), Bloomberg, Samsung, Bell Mobility, Rogers, TVB and Verizon. QuickPlay manages assets across more than 4,000 content providers on behalf of its customers, delivering more than 40 million downloads and streams of live and on-demand content to IP-connected devices each month.

QuickPlay will be exhibiting in the IBC Connected Hall (hall 14) on stand 14.381 and demonstrating the latest capabilities in seamless multiscreen television delivery in the Connected Hall demo area on Sunday 15th September at 1.30pm CET.
