SAMSUNG ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY AWARD WITH INTERNATIONAL TALENT SUPPORT

Samsung supports emerging talent by hosting an accessory design competition featuring the new Galaxy Tab S

London, UK – 10 July 2014 – Samsung Electronics today announced its partnership with International Talent Support (ITS), a global platform and competition for young emerging creative talent, to create the Samsung Galaxy Award. As a global leader in mobile technology, Samsung is devoted to inspiring and supporting the next generation of creative minds. With the Samsung Galaxy Award, Samsung is giving young talented designers an opportunity to showcase their creative approach and design vision by developing a Tab S accessory made from Diesel denim that embodies the convergence of technology and fashion.

Ten finalists will be selected from the ‘ITS Fashion’, ITS Accessories’ and ‘ITS Jewellery’ competition fields to create and present two unique accessory ideas for the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S. From these prototypes, ten will be chosen to be exhibited during the final round on July 11 and July 12. There were no limitations around what the final accessory could be – a cover, a case, a bag or anything else that the finalists’ creativity would inspire. The conceptual designs and sketches were drawn using a Samsung Note tablet and S Pen.

Diesel, a leading denim pioneer renowned for driving creativity in the fashion industry, has been an ITS partner since the first edition in 2002. Inspired by the brand’s trailblazer legacy, finalists will use the brand’s iconic denim fabric as the main material for each design. The final prototypes will represent the union of innovative form and unique design that will enhance the exceptional experience of using Samsung mobile devices.

True to the ITS spirit, the winner will be decided collectively by the votes from four united ITS juries: Fashion, Accessories, Artwork, and Jewellery, coupled with input from a panel of Samsung representatives including Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Mobile Communication Division. By creating the best accessory to carry the Galaxy Tab S that is practical, stylish and unique, the winner will receive the Samsung Galaxy Award of €10,000.
