RGB NETWORKS’ CLOUDXTREAM SOLUTION CHOSEN TO POWER MULTISCREEN OTT DEPLOYMENT BY TELECABLE

Leading Mexican Cable Operator Chooses RGB Networks Again for Major Project

At NAB 2014 (booth SU5324), RGB Networks, the leading provider of the industry’s most scalable, unified solutions for multiscreen video delivery, today announced that Telecable will offer multiscreen over-the-top (OTT) services to the more than 600,000 subscribers it serves throughout Mexico using RGB’s CloudXtream solution. Telecable will use several of RGB’s award-winning products in this deployment, including the Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG), Transact Packager and Just-in-Time Packager.

“We are always striving to offer our subscribers the latest services using the most innovative technologies, and RGB’s CloudXtream OTT solution enables us to quickly rollout full-featured multiscreen services while taking advantage of a cloud deployment to speed our time-to-market, provide flexibility and minimise total cost of ownership,” said Luis E. Vielma Ordóñez, chief operating officer of Telecable. “There were several reasons we chose RGB’s CloudXtream for this important project, including their pioneering Just-in-Time packaging technology deployed in virtualised environments and because of our previous experience with their reliable, high-performance products in migrating to an all IP video delivery network.”

“This ambitious rollout of OTT-based multiscreen services demonstrates Telecable’s commitment to service excellence,” said Simone Sassoli, vice president of marketing and business development at RGB Networks. “Our CloudXtream OTT solution leverages RGB’s proven video processing and packaging technologies to enable major operators like Telecable to quickly and cost-effectively deliver multiscreen services that easily scale with demand to minimise both upfront capital costs and ongoing operating costs.”

Cable operators and other service providers are increasingly turning to the cloud to minimise the costs and time required to deliver such multiscreen services as OTT, network digital video recorder (nDVR) and targeted ad insertion. Operators can leverage RGB’s award-winning software-based transcoding and packaging products in virtualised environments – whether a private cloud or public cloud – to quickly deploy services that can be easily scaled to meet growing demand. It is this combination of advantages that enables CloudXtream customers to contain both their capital costs and their ongoing operational expenses.
