RGB NETWORKS TO HIGHLIGHT LATEST GENERATION OF MULTISCREEN SOLUTIONS AT CSTB IN MOSCOW

Multiscreen 2.0 Solutions Streamline Operations and Reduce Cost of Delivering TV Everywhere and OTT Video Services

January, 28 2013 – RGB Networks, the leading provider of scalable multiscreen IP video delivery solutions, will highlight its award-winning solutions for the delivery of IP video services to multiple screens at CSTB 2013 in Moscow. Through its local partners – BCC, CTI, ISPA, Kontur-M and Netris – RGB Networks will showcase how its Enhanced Video Intelligence Architecture (eVIA) – a comprehensive multiscreen solution for encoding, transcoding, packaging and ad insertion – can easily facilitate video service providers’ (VSPs’) transition to an IP video infrastructure for the delivery of TV Everywhere and over-the-top (OTT) video services.

With competitive video services offered from a growing number of OTT sources, VSPs must combat the threat to their subscriber base with an IP-based video service of their own. As a second generation of ‘Multiscreen 2.0’ solutions becomes available, VSPs can take advantage of the lessons learned from early deployments, and utilise new technologies to streamline IP video deployments, reduce capital and operational expenses, and monetise services with on-demand offerings and targeted ad insertion capabilities.

“Multiscreen services are becoming a necessary component of any pay-tv offering, and last year’s Summer Olympics established a high level of expectation for viewing of major broadcasting events on any device. With Russia being the setting for next year’s Winter Olympics, providers in the region must act quickly to deploy the infrastructure that will gain them viewers, loyalty and revenue,” said Simone Sassoli, Vice President, International at RGB Networks.  “As we will demonstrate at the upcoming CSTB show, RGB’s comprehensive solutions enable providers to make this transition smoothly and cost-effectively with the latest generation of ‘Multiscreen 2.0’ technology.”

RGB’s Enhanced Video Intelligence Architecture (eVIA)

RGB’s eVIA is a complete IP video solution for the delivery and monetisation of live and on-demand multiscreen services. This suite of integrated products provides encoding, transcoding, packaging and ad insertion capabilities, with the flexibility to meet evolving requirements. Built to grow as consumer demand for TV Everywhere services increases, this highly-scalable solution consistently provides the video quality and reliability that subscribers expect for premium video services.

Comprised of a second generation of ‘Multiscreen 2.0’ solutions, RGB’s eVIA includes the following products and technologies to meet a full range of live and on-demand multiscreen requirements:

  • Integrated Transcoding & Packaging: At the heart of RGB’s eVIA solution is the Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG). This carrier-class platform performs the industry’s highest capacity real-time transcoding and is tightly integrated with RGB’s feature-rich TransAct Packager. The pioneering “just-in-time” packaging capability of RGB’s TransAct Packager enables VSPs to save costly storage and future-proof their VOD and nDVR multiscreen deployments.
  • Flexible Software-based Encoding/Transcoding: RGB’s new TransAct Encoder/Transcoder offers the ability to ingest baseband SDI-sourced live content, as well as IP and file input, for live or on-demand IP video delivery to smartphones, tablets, PCs and connected TVs, as well as traditional set-top boxes.

  • Multiscreen Monetisation: RGB’s Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) solution utilizes advanced ABR streaming to facilitate hyper-targeted advertising down to the neighbourhood, device or even specific individual subscriber demographics. The standards-based AIM integrates with ad decision systems (ADS) to create an end-to-end solution for the scalable delivery of addressable ads across multiple screens.
