French laboratory

Neumarkt, Austria – 2012-03-20 – ruwido today announced that it has enhanced its user behaviour research capacity with a new facility opened in Toulouse, France. ruwido conducts its own extensive scientific user behaviour research, which lays the foundation for any future developments. Additionally to the long maintained usability lab in Austria, the recently founded enterprise ruwido france in Toulouse, focuses on research in new forms of interaction technologies, consumer behaviour and latest IPTV technology.

“ruwido france works towards both technical and social science oriented ethnographic research. We chose Toulouse because France is a particularly developed TV market, enabling us to be at the centre of innovation,” said Dr. Regina Bernhaupt, director of user experience research, ruwido france. “Given the strength of the research we have already undertaken and the reliability of the results, we have been able to confidently predict the needs and desires of the next generation of television viewers, and those past predictions are now a market reality. This new facility will further strengthen our ability to develop devices and solutions that provide exactly what operators, and ultimately consumers, need in the home.”

ruwido’s predictions and vision for the future are based on over 40 years experience in the consumer electronics industry and its own extensive research into how consumers behave and interact with the TV services. With this knowledge the company is perfectly positioned to offer solutions for the next-generation of television services in the living room. Intensive usability studies, laboratory and field tests are conducted to make content more intuitively accessible.

“Interactive services will only benefit the consumer if they can use them. The systems currently available on the market are often too complex, so one of our key issues at the moment is how to make content more accessible. Through research and analysis in our user experience studios, we explore the behaviour of consumers and develop intuitive products as a direct result of our findings,” said Ferdinand Maier, CEO, ruwido.

Worldwide cable, satellite and IPTV providers such as Deutsche Telekom, Telekom Austria, Bouygues Telecom, Swisscom, Telecom Italia, Canal + and ONO count on the innovative solutions of ruwido.
