SAFFRON DIGITAL STRENGTHENS INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE WITH NEW AMERICAN OFFICE

Malachi Bierstein joins as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing Americas

Los Angeles, 25 March 2014 – Saffron Digital, specialist in the management and delivery of premium OTT services, has strengthened its international presence with the opening of a new office in Los Angeles and the appointment of Malachi Bierstein as Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing Americas.

Bierstein is responsible for driving Saffron Digital’s commercial strategy for the Americas and developing its premium online video platform in the region.  He joins Saffron Digital from Rovi Corporation, where he was head of worldwide DivX licensing, the core business of the company’s delivery and display division.  In that capacity, he lead a global sales and support team that worked with all levels of the supply chain including service providers, content owners, integrators, OEM’s, and IC vendors to enhance the delivery of digital video across all platforms. He previously held senior level positions at both Sonic Solutions and DivX where he continually grew revenue and created new markets that were key to DivX going public in 2006 and then being acquired by Sonic Solutions in 2010.

Bierstein said, “Saffron Digital is fast becoming a company to watch in the Americas and I’m looking forward to being a part of that. Not only does Saffron Digital have big aspirations to become a leader in the American digital entertainment market, but it has the technology and in-house talent to back it up. My plan is to strengthen the Saffron Digital brand and create a business that can truly meet the growing needs of content owners, retailers and operators in the region.”

Saffron Digital’s President Jason Keane said, “Since the acquisition of Saffron Digital by Najafi late last year we are investing in new offices, new talent and new leadership to drive our international growth. Malachi brings with him a huge amount of experience and connections to really build strong teams on the ground in the American market. This latest move makes Saffron Digital a truly global provider backed by key local knowledge and experience.”

Bierstein and Keane will be available at the NAB Show in Las Vegas from 7-10 April 2014. Saffron Digital is making its NAB debut this year on stand SU10522. It’ MainStage OTT platform, which is currently being rolled out to a number of companies in Europe and the US, will be demonstrated alongside live demonstrations of Saffron Digital’s latest service implementations which include KDDI’s Video Pass, Teleboy Series and ITV Essentials.
