Samsung Partners The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to Introduce Samsung TecTiles to Consumers
Samsung TecTiles – NFC tags – to transform how businesses engage with customers and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is first in Southeast Asia to use Samsung TecTiles to reward customers
Singapore, 6 February 2013 – Samsung is collaborating with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) in Singapore to reward its customers with a partnership to place Samsung TecTiles, or postage stamp sized Near Field Communications (NFC) stickers, in its 51 outlets in Singapore.
In the first business implementation of TecTiles in Southeast Asia, CBTL customers will be able to enjoy a free drink upsize in an exclusive marketing campaign running from 8 February to 7 March 2013. To enjoy this promotion, CBTL customers only need to tap their NFC-enabled Samsung GALAXY S III or GALAXY Note II LTE to a Samsung TecTile at the CBTL store and ‘Like’ the CBTL Facebook Page for an instant drink upsize redemption. Samsung TecTiles can be programmed to automate and speed up commonly used smartphone functions – instead of multiple taps and scrolling through pages, all it takes is one simple tap on an NFC-enabled smartphone to a TecTile. For example, retailers can put up TecTiles to enable consumers to check-in on Facebook or foursquare, connect to Wi-Fi, or download content the moment they enter the store.

Consumers can use Samsung TecTiles to automate everyday functions of a smartphone including silencing the phone when entering a meeting, setting an alarm, and dimming the smartphone display when going to bed. More examples of how TecTiles can be used can be found in Appendix B.
Samsung TecTiles are easy to program with the latest Samsung NFC-enabled smartphones, such as the GALAXY S III and GALAXY Note II LTE, and the Samsung TecTiles app is available for free download from Samsung Apps or Google Play. Samsung TecTiles are available at most Samsung retailers at an RRP of SGD 28 for a pack of five TecTiles.
