SCTE™ to Celebrate 70th Anniversary at Tower of London

HERTFORDSHIRE, U.K. — 8 January 2015 — The SCTE™, the Society for Broadband Professionals, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. To commemorate the special occasion, the Society will host its annual dinner on 27 June at the Tower of London. The prestigious event includes a four-course dinner, entertainment and networking opportunities with experts from the broadband industry.

“This is an exciting year for the SCTE, as we look back on 70 years of bringing quality education, training and networking opportunities to the global broadband industry,” said Dr. Roger Blakeway, Ph.D., FIEE, FSCTE, CEng, President, SCTE. “SCTE training is the widespread standard for young technicians in the field of broadband telecommunications and for those wanting to advance their careers. We look forward to providing additional professional development options to our members in 2015.”

The SCTE’s main goal is to advance the level of knowledge and professional standing of its members in the industry through certification and accreditation. The Society offers a wide range of professional development opportunities to expand its members’ knowledge base and qualifications, including comprehensive training courses and on-site training days, individual course books, technical lecture meetings, online video presentations, conferences and exhibitions.

The Society’s forthcoming events include the SCTE Benelux Group Annual Gala Dinner on 5 February in Gouda (Netherlands), the SCTE Spring Lecture meeting on 25 March at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, the SCTE Benelux Spring Lecture on 1 April in Belgium and the SCTE Summer Lecture and Awards on 8 July in Bicester (U.K.).

In addition, the Society runs the annual industry Technological Innovation Awards and Individual Awards (deadline for entries is 31 January). It keeps its members up to date on the latest technical data and standards through electronic communications and its quarterly magazine, Broadband Journal.

The SCTE is an active exhibitor and presenter at broadband industry trade shows. Continuing the Society’s tradition of providing professional development opportunities to its members, the SCTE offers bursaries to members who would otherwise not be able to attend these events. It offers bursaries for the FTTH conference and exhibition from 10-12 February in Warsaw, Poland; the ANGA COM Conference and Trade Fair from 9-11 June in Cologne, Germany; and IBC 2015 from 10-15 September in Amsterdam.
