Sign language provider is West Midlands’ most innovative business
A Birmingham-based sign language provider has been named the most forward-thinking business in the West Midlands after receiving a prestigious award in the Innovator category at the Business Masters Awards 2014.
As Britain’s first dedicated Sign Language interpreter, Sign Solutions has been providing translation services across the UK since 1998 but was awarded the accolade following the introduction of its unique ‘InterpretersLive!’ service.
Connecting Deaf people to interpreters via a video link, ‘InterpretersLive!’ allows for instant access to translators through PCs, tablets and smartphones.
Sean Nicholson, founder and CEO at Sign Solutions, said: “We’re extremely grateful that the work we’re doing to help ensure independence for Deaf people has been recognised.
“While traditionally Deaf people would need to book time with a sign language interpreter in advance, the great thing about the ‘InterpretersLive!’ service is that customers will have instant access to a dedicated interpreter whenever they need it.”
The West Midlands Business Masters Awards is hosted by TheBusinessDesk.com and celebrates the most successful businesses and entrepreneurs. This year the event was attended by more than 150 of the region’s top professionals.
Favoured by an audience of 50,000, TheBusinessDesk.com offers news from businesses across the West Midlands, with a combination of daily news bulletins and online articles.
Andy Coyne, editor at TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “Innovation is always a hotly-contested category and it was no different this year.
“Sign Solutions has used cutting edge technology to help a disadvantaged section of the community but, from a business perspective, it was its continuous programme of product development that appealed to our judges.
“It has also obviously appealed to the wider business community as Sign Solutions has chalked up an impressive client list in a relatively short space of time.”
