siptel keeps lines of communication open at GuilFest 2011

For the sixth year running, siptel has played a vital role in the smooth running of GuilFest, an independent music and arts festival held in the beautiful surroundings of Stoke Park, Guildford

Famous for its eclectic line-ups and fun atmosphere, GuilFest offers a week-end ofgreat live musical entertainment, as well as comedy, theatre, arts and crafts.GuilFest, held this week-end, celebrated its 20th anniversary, with headline performances from Razorlight and James Blunt, as well as N-Dubz, Erasure, Peter Andre, and Ziggy Marley, amongst a line-up of over 200 live acts performing across 8 stages over 3 days.

siptel has been working with GuilFest every year on their communications needs since 2006, providing voice and data connectivity via Wifi, as well as Internet connectivity. siptel’s solutions at live events such as GuilFest need to have high availability and high reliability, a key requirement for the live entertainment industry. The design is also critical to the availability and siptel specialises in tailored solutions to meet the client’s specific requirements.

With the telephony solution installed, siptel ensures that direct calls can be made and are able to be transferred anywhere around the site. There are numerous people at such events who rely on cutting edge communications technology, such as site and production managers (who build the physical stage and organise fencing etc.), outside broadcast technical teams, administration personnel, press, security staff and the performers and VIPs, who often want access to the Internet and private phones installed.

“siptel are able to deploy voice and data solutions at medium to large events such as GuilFest quickly and efficiently, working with the rest of the production team and organisers, then pull it all out again very quickly,” said Steve Rasmussen, Director for Siptel. “It is all about using our project management, implementation and support skills whilst being flexible, open-minded and reactive to the organisers’ needs. siptel are delighted to be involved with such a local and well-promoted event as GuilFest.”

Siptel also provides project management, engineering and support onsite at the events themselves, giving flexible and hands-on assistance when required and reacting immediately when changes need to be made. Their involvement ranges from managing the installation of lines, right up to full LAN/wireless network with VPN connectivity, DSL services and cabling.

The project management, installation and support services are critical during live events because the systems need to work during these three days and there is absolutely no room for error. To that end, siptel’s project managers and engineers are very skilled and experienced, delivering to tight timelines and supporting the system, ensuring that all aspects of the services are in working order.

As well as installing telephony solutions, often setting up the comms infrastructure in portakabins at the outdoor events, siptel can also provide additional features such as non-geographic numbers, SIP, ISDN 30, voice mail, IVR and Automated Attendant Services, so that vital calls are routed to the correct destination and are not lost.

Just to understand how versatile siptel can be, below is a list of just some of the varying-sized events (some being the largest in the UK) they have been involved with over the past seven years:
