Skype Users Among the Highest Consumers of Traditional Voice Services, Finds Neuralitic Systems

20th June 2011, Contrary to what many operators assume, the adoption of Skype services on smartphones does not reduce overall voice usage. Rather, mobile data intelligence (MDI) solution provider, Neuralitic Systems have found that the greater Skype usage is, the greater voice usage is – even in the case of existing voice subscribers.

Using its SevenFlow MDI solution to analyze Skype adopter behavior, Neuralitic found that there is a distinct profile for Skype subscribers, and that high volume users of Skype are likely to be high users of voice. For example, average voice consumption grew by 14% with Skype adoption/usage. For more details, see: “Skype Users Amongst the Highest Consumers of Traditional Voice Services”

Neuralitic has found how this is a significant finding for mobile operators that are in the process of introducing Skype plans. And also how mobile operators can target the right audience when they focus the right data on the right segment, and how, using the Skype case as an example, can create opportunities to increase up-sell opportunities.
