Spirent Solution Demonstrates OpenFlow 1.3 Interoperability at Interop Tokyo 2013

Spirent TestCenter Validates Performance of Multiple OpenFlow 1.3 Controllers during ShowNet Display

Sunnyvale, Calif. – July 8, 2013Spirent Communications, the leading provider of network, services and device testing solutions, today announced that Spirent TestCenter supported a public demonstration of OpenFlow 1.3 interoperability testing at Interop Tokyo 2013.

Toyo Corporation, the exclusive distributor for Spirent in Japan, utilized Spirent TestCenter to emulate OpenFlow controllers and connect to multiple OpenFlow switches developed by vendors participating in the interoperability event. Spirent TestCenter’s powerful analysis capability verified switch and controller connectivity, and end-to-end traffic forwarding and performance of OpenFlow 1.3 implementations. This interoperability demonstration was presented the Interop Tokyo 2013 Best of Show Grand Prix Award for showcasing the readiness of OpenFlow 1.3 for commercial deployments.

“Spirent’s cutting-edge solutions and thorough technical support from Toyo’s engineering team contributed greatly to Japan’s first OpenFlow 1.3 interoperability test and world’s first live demonstration,” said Mr. Shuichi Saito, Interop Tokyo ShowNet NOC Team. “We hope this interoperability test will help accelerate SDN/OpenFlow deployments in Japan and abroad.”

“Spirent continues to be at the forefront of SDN/OpenFlow technology development by introducing leading-edge testing solutions and playing a critical role in tests such as  the InCNTRE Interoperability event as well as the 100G AusNOG SDN demonstration,” said Angus Robertson, senior director product marketing at Spirent. “Spirent is honored to join forces with Toyo in this OpenFlow 1.3 interoperability demonstration at Interop Tokyo and to be recognized for its efforts.”

Spirent TestCenter enables network operators and vendors to measure performance, availability, security and scalability (PASS) of OpenFlow network devices and end-to-end SDN applications by defining millions of flows and exercising them with traffic patterns and behavior.
