SPIRIT DSP Reports Record Sales Revenue Growth of 80 Percent for the First Half of 2012

Sales Revenue Marks an 80 Percent Increase Over the First Half of 2011 and Mirrors the Mainstream Proliferation and Adoption of Cross-Platform mobile VoIP and PC-based Videoconferencing Worldwide

MOSCOW, Russia – Aug. 21, 2012 – SPIRIT DSP, the world’s #1 voice and video over IP (VVoIP) engines provider, announced today that the company has achieved record sales revenue growth of 80 percent for the first six months of 2012 over the first half of 2011. The company is crediting this growth to the mainstream proliferation of mobile VoIP and PC videoconferencing software products.

“Cross-platform IP communications is being recognized one of the fastest growing markets worldwide, driven by the growing demand from consumers and businesses to use inexpensive, and sometimes free, mobile VoIP calling services, and the convenience and time-saving benefits that come from PC videoconferencing. Today, the calling experience ― even over unmanaged networks like Wi-Fi and 3G ― is as good or better than old, traditional PSTN and mobile calling,” said SPIRIT’s Chairman Andrew Sviridenko. “As an enabling VVoIP technology provider, SPIRIT has a unique glimpse into the future of this rapid-paced market and we’re seeing our customers planning fast-track roadmaps to deliver on the promise of ‘anytime, anywhere’ quality video calling in an effort to reduce churn to OTT providers, protect their brands and increase customer satisfaction of these value-added service offerings.”

Sviridenko continued, “Our first half of 2012 sales revenue represents a clear signal and validation that quality, cross-platform VVoIP communications is now a ‘must-have’ service offering by all major service providers.”

In the first half of 2012, global service providers achieved considerable adoption, widespread market deployment and expansion of VVoIP communication services with the use of SPIRIT’s flagship TeamSpirit® Engines, further cementing SPIRIT’s position as the world’s largest VVoIP enabling technology provider. Today, SPIRIT Engines power more than 1 billion users worldwide across all devices, including both iOS and Android smartphones, tablets and PCs.

SPIRIT customers that contributed to the revenue growth include AT&T, China Mobile (the world’s largest mobile operator), Kazakhtelecom (one of the fastest growing telecom providers in Middle Asia), KT (S. Korea’s top fixed-line and second largest mobile operator), LG U+ (the third largest carrier in South Korea), Rostelecom (Russia’s largest telco carrier), Huawei (the world’s largest telecom equipment manufacturer), Polycom (a global leader in video conferencing hardware), Samsung (the world’s largest handset and smartphone manufacturer), among many others.

TeamSpirit Engines support both RCS-e and VoLTE. The engines include resource-efficient HD voice and video codecs, echo and noise cancelling (AEC), automatic voice and video rate selection (ARS), packet delays mitigation, speech enhancement, network adaptation, voice and video synchronization, a dozen of standard digital telephony functions and more. In addition to a dozen of ITU-T standard G.7xx and H.26x codecs included in the engine, SPIRIT also offers its own industry leading IP-MR™ (IETF 6262) adaptive and error-resilient HD voice codec that has been selected by Tier1 telecom operators to deliver HD voice to dozens of millions users. TeamSpirit uses H.264SVC and VP8 video codecs. TeamSpirit Voice&Video Conferencing Engine is an additional server-side module bringing all the power of TeamSpirit’s robust high-quality calling to centralized communication scenarios. TeamSpirit Conferencing powers SPIRIT’s VideoMost software for massively multipoint videoconferencing. SPIRIT video engines are available on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and allow users of smartphones, tablets and notebooks across different OSs to make video calls from iPhone to Android smartphones to PCs, as well as participate in HD video conferencing with automatic quality adaptation to specific network conditions, screen size and processing power.
