SRT and Thuraya Sign Partnership Agreement
Abu Dhabi, 29th August 2011: Thuraya, a leading provider of mobile satellite communications,
today announced a partnership agreement with SRT Wireless, LLC, a US-based company known for delivering best-in-class technology solutions for global business enterprises, military and civilian government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. The agreement, which is set to deliver a state-of-the-art Software Defined Radio (SDR) Internet Protocol (IP) module, will provide an open platform for developers enabling easier integration and product development.
Thuraya’s new IP module, developed and manufactured by SRT Wireless, will enhance the capabilities of Thuraya’s data products, which are surging in popularity in both the Land and Maritime sectors. Significantly advanced over other products in this category, the SRT Wireless IP module design will feature added functionality including Voice, GmPRS/SMS/Fax, integrated GPS and an OEM programmable host controller with Linux SDK package which will significantly shorten development time and resource needed to bring new products to market by allowing developers to write applications directly to the module to address key vertical markets.
