Steria selected by City of Hamburg for major IT transformation project

Paris, France, 7 February 2013 – Steria, a leading provider of IT-enabled business services, today announces that it has been selected by the City of Hamburg, Germany, to transform its budgeting system. The project will give the city access to right-time financial information and modernise a historically complex budgeting process.

The City of Hamburg is a long-standing Steria customer having been first appointed in 2004 to provide consulting and IT services for its accounting system. A pioneer in administration modernisation processes, the city has selected Steria to update its accounting system and to modernise its budgeting system in line with new legislation and new strategic requirements.

Steria will design, test, integrate and deliver a modernised, state-of-the-art IT system that provides more standardised, transparent processes for resource management, the cash office, administrative procedure integration and budgeting. The system will also provide access to more detailed, right-time control information, improving the ability to make more efficient and informed budgeting decisions. The new system is expected to be rolled out across the city’s 10 ministries, seven district administrations and several departments by 2015.

Michael Ritter, project manager at Steria Mummert Consulting said: “This new contract demonstrates our long-standing commitment to the City of Hamburg. We will be supporting the city with an extremely important, far-reaching project that will make its current, complex budgeting system much more accessible and transparent.”

Lars Kastning, project manager at the City of Hamburg added: “After many years of working together, Steria has demonstrated high quality IT and consulting expertise as well as a sound understanding of the administration’s internal processes. This is why we have chosen to partner with Steria once again on such an important, strategic modernisation project for the City of Hamburg.”

In summary

Steria has been selected by the City of Hamburg to assist with a strategic three-year IT transformation project to modernise the city’s budgeting systems. Steria will provide a comprehensive portfolio of consulting services and expertise including the design, integration, delivery and testing of a new budgeting system, giving the city access to right-time financial information in line with new legislation and new strategic requirements.
