Team ‘ECO-Oman’ Ranked Second in Ooredoo’s Springboard’s Seventh Wave of Graduates

Muscat, Oman

As the runner-up of the seventh wave of graduates, team ‘ECO-Oman’ placed second out of the Springboard programme’s top three teams. In an effort to promote sustainability, generating profit from recycling, and minimising pollution, the group created a mobile app which encourages recycling in Oman through compensation. Users will be prompted to share their location and the app will contact a recycling company to collect the waste seamlessly.

Kuliethem Abdullah Ahmed Al Muzahmi, Team Leader of ‘ECO-Oman’, said: “Our team is very happy to be presented with such an opportunity from Ooredoo where we can showcase our talents and skills. The main idea behind our project is to protect the beautiful landscape of Oman from any harmful materials in a convenient and an dynamic manner. By preserving our environment, we will ensure Oman stays beautiful for future generations”.

‘ECO-Oman’ is available to download for free on both the Apple store and Google Play. Through the app, users can share their exact location on a virtual map and determine the type of waste they wish to have recycled. The app will accept recyclable paper, plastic, glass, wood, cans, expired foods and damaged electronic devices. Moreover, ‘ECO-Oman’ includes an in-purchase market, which contains environmentally friendly products which can be purchased using Apple Pay, Visa, or Mastercard.

The Springboard programme was created in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the British Council, with the belief that everyone has untapped potential which can be developed for the fulfilment of the individual, their employer and local communities. To date, Springboard has been introduced to over 252,287 women in over 46 countries, with 408 licensed trainers globally, empowering them to harness their talents and live healthier, happier and more productive lives.
