Radio communications specialist secures five year contract covering sites across the North of Scotland and South of England

1 SEPTEMBER 2011 – Radio communications specialist Team Simoco has been awarded a major new contract for SSE’s PMR network across their distribution areas in the North of Scotland and the South of England.

In the first stage of the five-year agreement, Team Simoco has completed a detailed assessment of SSE Telecoms’ operational requirements in Scotland and England.

During this first stage, the SSE Telecoms and Team Simoco Project Teams worked together to set the foundations for a long term working relationship.

Following SSE’s acceptance of a detailed Functional Design Specification (FDS), Team Simoco will now install a mix of products, including the company’s award winning Xfin technology, which is central to the networking system, providing SSE with an advanced communications network to support their operations, whatever the terrain.

Neil Hutchings, Managing Director – Telecoms & Utility Solutions at SSE, commented: “Team Simoco offered us a single source for the design, manufacturing and installation of our next generation communications system.  Their leading edge technology, together with their expertise, professionalism and commitment to delivering our specific requirements set them apart. Their recommendations and support over the coming years will be integral to our growth and service delivery plans.”

Ian Carr, Team Simoco’s Chief Executive Officer, says: “Securing this contract underlines the strength of service we offer.  We develop, manufacture and install, giving us the flexibility to tailor each system to the individual requirements of our customers – something few companies can deliver on.

“The SSE system will cover an extensive operational area, meaning the design specification and installation takes in varying terrain.  Our Xfin technology is well proven and with the expertise of our engineering team the new network will help enhance SSE’s communications across its operations.”
