TeamCast announces
a unique Dual-Exciter solution for
Dual-Drive Digital Transmitters
Amsterdam, September 12, 2014
TeamCast, the world renowned leader in digital modulation technologies for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), Wireless Transmission and Satellite Applications, announces the new TWISTER-4000 system, dedicated to the operation of Digital Terrestrial TV transmitters in Dual-Drive redundancy mode.

The TWISTER-4000 system combines two TWISTER digital exciters and a RF switch unit. At the system management level, specific functionalities have been designed in to simplify the system configuration and user operation. The RF switch unit is fully and transparently managed by the TWISTER exciters, covering a comprehensive set of parameters such as the multiple switching triggers. In addition, the TWISTER-4000 system maintains control of the transmitter Power Amplifier stage, handling the power on/off cycle and displaying the different transmitter conditions.

“More than fifteen years after the first commercial DVB-T network roll-outs, many broadcasters are now wanting to renew or to up-grade their transmitters. Some have expressed the need to extend the existing system life by replacing the exciter stage while aiming also at improving performance, gaining power efficiency or up-grading operations to the latest DVB-T2 and T2-Lite standards. This is exactly the reason why we have decided to release this  unique and highly innovative solution on the market!” says Eric PINSON, Business Unit Manager at TeamCast.

With TWISTER-4000, TeamCast remains at the forefront of Terrestrial Modulation technologies. The TWISTER itself is a very innovative solution for the TV exciter market, and brings several key features to ease its integration into the transmitter design and to achieve a top class RF performance. These features include a state-of-the-art Digital Adaptive Pre-correction mechanism, an Automatic Gain Control (AGC) process to ensure the correct output power stability, and the monitoring of key transmitting power figures such as Forward Transmitted Power and Reflected Power levels.

The TWISTER-4000 Dual-Drive system will be displayed on TeamCast’s booth at IBC 2014: 2B-51.
