Microsoft Intune to utilise TeamViewer for remote assistance

TeamViewer replaces the Easy Assist capability within Microsoft Intune

8th June, London, UK – TeamViewer®, the global pioneer of remote control and online collaboration software, today announced its interoperation with Microsoft Intune to enable remote assistance for Windows PC users.

Intune is a cloud service that provides mobile device management, mobile application management, and PC management capabilities. Intune’s mobile productivity management capabilities help organisations provide their employees access to corporate data, applications, and resources, while helping to protect their corporate information. With support for Windows, Windows Mobile, iOS, Android, and Mac OS X devices, Intune helps customers protect corporate data across their mobile ecosystem of devices.

The new TeamViewer interoperation will enable IT professionals to remotely connect to, view and control an end-user’s computer. To initiate remote assistance, end-users simply request a session from within the Intune PC Client Center. Then, an IT professional approves the request from the Administrator Console and connects back to the end-user’s PC.

“Microsoft is a global leader that empowers people and organisations to achieve more, this makes a great fit for TeamViewer to establish a strategic partnership as we have common values,” said Alfredo Patron, Vice President of Business Development for TeamViewer. “The interoperation we are announcing today with Microsoft Intune will use TeamViewer’s technologies to enable companies of all sizes with a scalable and secure online support solution to always keep their devices running and reduce costs.”

TeamViewer’s interoperation works with any computer that has the Intune PC Client installed, which currently is available for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. With the remote assistance capability, IT professionals are able to control a user’s computer as if they are the end-user themselves, and utilise their expertise to mitigate or solve any issues. The use of the TeamViewer interoperation requires a license.

“Organisations today need secure solutions that give them the ability to provide flexible, remote IT support for their users,” said Andrew Conway, senior director of product marketing, Enterprise Mobility Suite, Microsoft. “We’re excited to welcome TeamViewer into the Microsoft Intune ecosystem, enhancing our mutual customers’ capabilities for remote assistance on Intune managed Windows PCs.”
