Tech Mahindra launches SDN – NFV based Smart City Solutions

Continues its focus on building smart solutions for scalable Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona – March 04, 2015 Tech Mahindra Ltd. a specialist in digital transformation, consulting and business re-engineering today announced, the launch of best-in-class SDN and NFV based solutions suite to address the ever changing network scenarios and demands in building the smart cities.

As per SDNCentral, global SDN-NFV spends is going to reach close to $35 Billion in 2018 with a growth rate of more than 20% through 2018. Tech Mahindra has established itself as a key player in the SDN-NFV space and offer vendor neutral System Integration capabilities and highly scalable Managed Services to its customers.

Tech Mahindra is accelerating customers’ Time to Market with these next gen solutions and eco-system of alliances; delivering highest level of integration and choice. We aim to 25% – 30% lower its customer TCO with its powerful, innovative portfolio of reusable Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networks (SDN) components like Load Balancer and Bandwidth Management.

As a part of this suite of solutions, Tech Mahindra has developed a carrier grade Virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) solution that scales independently for control and data plane surges. Tech Mahindra’s 3GPP compliant vEPC comes with a custom developed VNF manager that enhances virtualization platforms for carrier grade requirements of virtual network functions. This would result in significant reduction in CapEx as vEPC runs on commodity x86 hardware, provide for a highly scalable & flexible solution and ensure effective resource utilization.
